Minutes

  • Table round: the table of WG5 members at the confluence page SPECTRUMCoP - WGs and community engagement needs to be update
  • Collaboration tools: all participants agreed not to use slack and to use the following google doc/drive link for internal communication within WG5 - https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1PenzKqLgnuosIbwnyq250ug3o6HOBUZV
  • Description by Tommaso of SPECTRUM objectives (slides 7-14 in the presentation below)
  • Main objective of WG5: identify a list of use cases enough understood and documented about HPC/data needs and bottlenecks of HEP/RA communities
    • Q: a lot of science use cases list and related documents already exist. What should we do more? A: identify cases specifically related to HPC/data challenges. Do not forget needs not necessarily included in experiments'/observatories' usual documents (e.g. theoretical physics needs)
    • Q: do we agree with having a minimum input to the CoP survey by WG5? A: yes, WG5-like surveys already exist in this respect
    • Q: what are the criteria for identifying meaningful use cases? Do examples already exist of well documented Use Cases about data/computing needs? A: yes, in particular in HEP → It has been decided that, during the next meeting of WG5, some HEP colleagues will present a few examples
    • Q: is there a connection between this activity and the on-going SKA Regional Center discussions/organisation? A: yes, a lot, in particular for European SRC nodes
  • It has been decided that we will record meetings via zoom from next time on
  • To dos:
    • share slides and links → CF
    • start putting documents for Use Cases' identification in the "Existing documentation" folder at the following google drive link --> ALL https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1PenzKqLgnuosIbwnyq250ug3o6HOBUZV
    • prepare some use case illustrations in view of June 14 meeting → TB & colleagues
    • send around zoom link for next meeting → CF
