Purpose of the JA2 of the Joint Activity Plan is to:

  • Develop a common language and strategy to approach stakeholders of common interest for support and engagement at European and national levels.
  • Identify overlaps and complementarities between EOSC-hub and OpenAIRE-Advance in order to jointly support Open Science in EOSC.
  • Plan and implement harmonised engagement with stakeholders via a joint presence and outreach.

The communication, engagement, support and training will be setup to address the needs of different stakeholders, e.g. researchers, repository managers, institutions, industry and SMEs, funders, policy makers.

JA2.1 Communications

Communications plan

EOSC-hub and OpenAIRE-Advance will develop a joint communication plan, building on the individual projects’ experiences, activities and goals. The joint communications plan will be user-centric, meaning that it will focus on ways to promote the added values of the collaboration for a path towards EOSC to all stakeholders.

To achieve this objective, the communications task will use the following instruments:

  • News items and articles to announce achievements and milestones.
  • Use cases focusing on the user experience and added values for the stakeholders.

The overarching goal of this task is to gradually come up with common approaches and communication mechanisms. A joint online channel will also be established.

A joint communication channel will be put in place to reinforce the impact of the cross-project collaboration will support communication activities in the context of EOSC. The channel will facilitate and support a joint online presence, which will highlight the collaboration activities, use cases. The channel will be inclusive and made available to initiatives and projects committed to the realization of the EOSC vision (the “Coalition of Doers”), and will pave the way towards the realization of a EOSC Portal.

EOSC-hub and OpenAIRE-Advance will contribute various EOSC-related content on: Open Science policies, project activities and new items, use cases, success stories, press releases.

The joint communication channel will be the collaborative effort of a joint editorial board supported by EOSC-hub, OpenAIRE-Advance and open to other collaborating initiatives and projects.

Benefits. A larger number of stakeholders is made aware of the cross-project value proposition thanks to consistent and clear communications.

JA2.2 Common Support and Training

EOSC-hub Coordination: Giuseppe La Rocca, Coordinator of WP11 Training (EGI.eu)

OpenAIRE-Advance Coordination: Iryna Kuchma, University of Minho

Contact: ja-support@mailman.eosc-hub.eu

Both projects deliver training and support on a range of topics to facilitate the uptake of their services. The aim of this activity is to do this jointly for topics of common interest.

OpenAIRE and EOSC-hub will define and organise some joint support and training activities. The main goal is to empower national nodes - the human network - to professionalise and offer support and training themselves to communities and researchers. Shared instruments and resources will be setup, e.g. a database of training resources and a joint helpdesk.

Benefit.  More efficient provisioning of instruments for support and training for researchers and intermediaries.

JA2.2.1

Support national nodes

Add to the respective workplans that NOADs and NGIs are to join respective national events. These will serve to start collaboration and highlight respective services to support open science at national levels. All joint events will go into the joint training schedule. This will also serve to contribute to both projects user engagement tasks, via a series of structured feedback forms from events and specific emphasis will be put on inviting members of vertical infrastructures and disciplinary communities. In Month 4 a joint webinar will be held to introduce all national nodes to each other and a brief overview given of the aims of the projects

JA2.2.2

Establish joint training programme

Hold a series of webinars and face-to-face training events. This task will also train on respective services to a range of stakeholders (e.g. researchers, service providers, institutions). research infrastructures. Develop tailored training materials and disciplinary case studies to support training efforts. Webinars will also be developed, topics include DMP planning, FAIR data, cloud services, services for open science to incorporate into national roadmaps and ecosystems. Work to develop ‘add-ons’ to respective trainings, e.g. adding Open Science modules to discipline specific outreach. This will be primarily achieved through the science communities already involved in the two projects (3 in OpenAIRE-Advance and 18 in EOSC-hub) and through new communities the projects will engage with in the coming years.
